Lotus Wellbeing & Beauty

The Objective:

The challenge for this project was to create a luxurious, elegant, professional salon with additional functional space for manicures, pedicures and spray tans in addition to the existing four therapy rooms within the small narrow, deep and dark footprint.

The Approach:

The final design concept utilises multiple reflective surfaces to create an illusion of space and light. Extensive spatial planning and functional assessment of the therapy activities enabled the final plan to create spaces within spaces. Corridors also became Pedicure Bays, Therapy Rooms became circulation space, Manicure Bays also became additional waiting areas.

The complete remodel included the development of a new branding logo and exterior image that reflected the key internal design elements. The space is a blend of contrasting colours and shapes. Most elements and furniture are rectilinear and are softened by the floor to ceiling flowing white curtains that separate the first two therapy rooms. The soft curtains cocoon the bays and help to absorb ambient sound from each neighboring cubicle. The lotus flower, seen in the wallpaper, has come to be associated with purity and beauty and adds to the sense of luxury and pampering. The pixelated light shade designand Lotus flower together define the key branding elements. The reconfigured interior layout has enabled the business to increase the number of appointments booked significantly.
