Penthouse Apartment
The Objective:
The kitchen was the focus of this refurbishment.
The apartment had been originally designed by BVN Architects and beautifully furnished with Coco Republic furnishings. The owner wished enhance the functionality and finishes of the kitchen and flooring. The kitchen is located in the heart of the large open plan apartment and is flooded with natural light from the high glass windows stretching along the wide apartment frontage. The brief was to create a stunning centre piece to the apartment that significantly improved the functionality and storage amenities whilst acting as an elegant backdrop for future entertaining.
The Approach:
The scale of the space, position of the existing services and flow of future activities informed the kitchens design while capitalizing on the abundant light, long linear lines and striking black and white colour scheme. The final design introduces natural elements with tactile qualities with movement and texture set against a warm coloured background. The beautiful milky white Calcutta Oro marble kitchen bench is purposefully large and statuesque, complimenting the black and white colour scheme and further offset by the Malay Grey two-pac painted cupboards and high gloss polished porcelain floor tiles. All work spaces, cupboards, integrated appliances and the butlers pantry were designed to support the flow of usual kitchen activities.
