The Objective:

I was engaged to breathe new life into a quiet, small workers cottage located amongst the growing gentrification of inner city West End in Brisbane.

The house was remodeled into a layered space with flexible functionality and elegance. Although contemporary in style, the new design exudes warmth and harmony with unexpected illusions of light and space. The design includes interesting angles and shapes which create unexpected vistas and movement in a long narrow foot print.

The Approach:

This approach involved the development of a clear design concept which maximised the functionality of the available space and reflected the owners brief for a contemporary home with a European feel and a strong distinctive design language.

Comprehensive spatial planning created multipurpose rooms with detailed plans outlining all furniture, finishes, joinery, lighting and associated schedules. The process involved extensive investigation of materials and finishes and modularised furniture and cabinetry to transform and maximise the multiple potential use of the available space.
